FEATURED ANNOUNCEMENTS

1. Project 20/$25

We have a current mission project to provide 20 - $25 gift cards from either Walmart, Target or Kohls in order to partner with the Olathe Schools and other non-profit organization in providing the opportunity for homeless kids on our communities to get what they need (especially clothing) for the start of the school year. The deadline for this project is August 6th. You may drop off gift cards to Leann at the church office during normal business hours.

2. Missionary Visit

Join us Wednesday, August 3rd at 6:00 p.m. as we are joined by Dan & Sarah Chetti, missionaries from Beirut, Lebanon. Supper will be served at the regular time of 5:00 p.m. Then everyone is encouraged to join us in the Sanctuary to hear the amazing stories of what God is doing in Lebanon.

3. American Baptist Women - Gathering

You are all (ladies & gentlemen) invited to the Gathering hosted by our American Baptist Women on August 9th at 6:30 p.m. A meal will be served and the program features Melisa (Nguyen) Chai who will be sharing about the affect of Human Trafficking in Olathe.

1. Result of Name Change Vote

Our regularly scheduled Business meeting was held July 20th at 6:30 p.m. At this meeting we voted on changing the name of the Olathe Campus to Connections Community Church. The Diaconate had determined ahead of the meeting that the motion would require a 2/3 majority in order to pass. The results of the vote: A total of 144 ballots were cast. 96 was the number required for the motion to pass. Total YES votes 79 - Total NO votes 65. The motion was denied.

2. Everyone Is Invited

The American Baptist Womens Ministry and the Luther Rice Association will host its Summer Rally on Tuesday, July 26 beginning at 6:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church - DeSoto. This event is open to ladies and gentlement. Supper will be served and the guest speaker is Nathan March who is the Associate Executive Minister for American Baptist Church Central Region. 1. Business Meeting

Our next regularly scheduled Business meeting will happen July 20th at 6:30 p.m. At this meeting we will get ministry updates from the Olathe & Gardner campuses and we will vote on changing the name of the Olathe Campus. Absentee Ballots are now available - please see Leann Carrick, if you need an absentee ballot. Absentee Ballots should be returned to Leann no later than 5:00 p.m. on July 20. There will be a potluck supper before the meeting beginning at 5:30 p.m. Please bring a dish to share according to your last name: A-I Main Dish; J-Q Salad or Side and R-Z Dessert.

1. Demolition Crew Wanted

We are looking for a few good people to prepare the first set of bathrooms for updating. The work will be done on Saturday, July 16 beginning at 9:00 a.m. We will also be putting up the Noah's Ark Now Enrolling sign, while we're here. Work will involve removing and storing the toilets and mirrors - so they can be re-installed. Removal and disposal of wall paper, chair rails, floors and partitions. If you can help out please contact Leann at leanncarrick.fbc@gmail.com

Ginger Sparks would like to know what the interest would be for a Bible Journaling small group. Bible journaling combines Bible study with art. See the photo for an example. It would require that you purchase a Journaling Bible and possibly some drawing/coloring supplies. If you would like to learn more please email Ginger at stampinginger@sbcglobal.net
