Be In The Know - December 28, 2017

FEATURED ANNOUNCEMENTS
1. Office Hours - Leann will be out of the office on Friday, December 29 and the office will be closed on Monday for New Years Day.

2. Giving Envelopes - will be available starting Sunday, December 31. Please check the table in the welcome center for yours. Also note that some envelope numbers have changed so if you would be so kind as to clearly print your name on the envelope to ensure proper accounting.  

3. Road Work Ahead
- Sometime in January the city will begin work to add right turn lanes at the intersection of Mur Len and 151st. Our 151st parking lot entrance will be effected by this construction at some point for a few weeks. During that time please use the parking lot entrance located on Kiowa.

4. We're Hiring - in case you haven't heard our Connection Pastor, Rachael Boevers' husband John has gotten a promotion that requires that they move to Arizona. As such we are currently looking for our next Connection Pastor. For more information about the job go to: www.fbcolathe.org/jobs

Let Us Know...
Please be sure to fill out a Connect Card each week to let us know you were at church and how the staff can be praying for you. If you attend the first service drop it in the offering plate as it goes by. If you attend the second service you can put the Connect Card in the offering boxes at the back of the Sanctuary. We close out 2017 with a message from Pastor Derek titled Living Right that will look at Matthew 7:12. 

A limited number of the reading the Bible in a year tool - Back to Basics: Time In The Word will be available this Sunday as well. If you miss getting one please let Leann Carrick know and more will be printed.

Prayer List Reminder - If you would like a list with full names they are available by request from the Welcome Center and if they run out Leann will be happy to print one for you.

Christmas Card Baskets - Please be sure to check for Christmas cards this Sunday. Cards not claimed by January 1 will NOT be mailed and will be disposed of. If you know you will be out of town and plan on getting your cards after, let Leann know and she will hold them for you.

All Church Pot Luck - Sunday, January 14 following second service. The church will provide the main dish. Everyone else is asked to bring a dish to share: A-I Side Dishes; J-R Salads; S-Z Dessert


SERVE
Serve At Grace - Thursday, January 18th starting at 5:15 p.m. Sign-up sheets are now at the Welcome Center. Sign up to provide a dessert, serve or both.

Undecking the Church - Thursday, January 4 from 5:00pm until finished. Come and help for a little bit or for however long it takes. Let Pastor Derek know if you can be there.

Church Historians - we are looking for someone or a group of someone's to help us put together a memorial book and organize the historical section of what will be our new heritage room, particularly creating a timeline display of the church's history. For more information please see Pastor Derek.

Coming up This Weekend:
In the morning services our Advent Journey to Joy comes to an end with a fourth Sunday of Advent message that looks at love. Then in the evening, we celebrate Jesus' birth with our special candlelight service and a message titled The Great Interruption. Don't to bring your passport.

Passport correction - on the December 4 note page there is a question asking about the symbol of love on the sanctuary table. This question is actually meant for the December 24 morning services, when there will be a symbol of love on the sanctuary table.

Be In The Know - December 14, 2017

FEATURED ANNOUNCEMENTS


1. Pajamas, Hats & Gloves oh my! - Thank you, Thank you! Between the church and our preschool we provided pajamas for three classrooms of kids, plus an additional 40 pairs, as well as gloves and hats! SO thank you for your generosity!

2. Office Hours - The office will close at 3:00 p.m. this Friday.

3. Kettle Hopping - Join us as we spread Christmas cheer to the Salvation Army Bell Ringers around town. We'll meet up at the church at 6:00 p.m. and finish up around 8:00 p.m. at Culvers. 

4. FBC Kids Present - The Christmas musical The Night Shift Before Christmas Sunday, December 17 at 6:00 p.m. There will be a cookie receptions following the production.

Young at Heart - Celebrate Christmas with Bonnie Perkins on Tuesday, December 19th at 10:30 a.m. You are asked to bring a small, wrapped gift with you. Lunch will be provided. It is sure to be a good time.
