Be In The Know - June 15, 2017

FEATURED ANNOUNCEMENTS
1. Room Revolution
Keep an eye out for the Room Revolution posters. At the June meeting the Diaconate voted to support the staff in the continued development and implementation of a strategic plan that includes re-arranging some of our spaces to make more defined and efficient spaces. The preliminary work has begun. The changes will see new office locations for Pastor Derek, Leann & the staff. New & Improved location for nursery, improved locations for children's ministry, expanded and improved location for youth ministry, new locations for adult small group meetings and new Children's & Youth entrance with Children's Check-in for added security. We hope to have the majority of these changes made by the end of July, with finishing touches be completed by the August 5th Night of Worship.

2. Building Improvement Update
The restrooms across from Pastor Derek's office have fresh paint and new floors, new toilets and sinks are up next for installation. Sunday, July 9th will be our last Sunday in the Sanctuary until the work in there is completed. Worship will be in Fellowship Hall beginning July 16th. Work will begin on the sanctuary July 10th. We are planning a Night of Worship celebration for the re-opening of the Sanctuary August 5th.

3. What to be more involved?
Then join us for Next Step Connect to learn more about serving opportunities in the church. Next Step Connect will be a series of short meeting following service on July 2, July 23, & August 13. We'll be sharing more information as we get closer to the first one.

4. Book Give Away
As part of the Room Revolution we will be expanding the youth area into what is now the Library. Historical documents have been moved to their new location in the Parlor and significant number of Children's books have been gifted to the Olathe Public Schools. We have set aside relevant resource books - like commentaries and such and good numbers of Bibles. What's left will be available to the members of FBC until June 30th. Any books left at that time will be gifted to a church in Missouri that lost everything during the flooding earlier this year. Books available include Christian fiction, Devotionals, Children's, Hymnals and all sort of other topics. Stop in during normal business hour, Wednesday evenings or Sundays.

5. A Church In Need... We can help
First Baptist Church in Van Buren, Missouri lost everything including their building (the whole thing floated away) during the flooding that occurred earlier this year. This is the church that will be getting any of the books left in the library. They need all sorts of stuff and we have plenty of stuff that is no longer needed or used. So we will be collecting those items into a corner in Fellowship Hall and then Jay and Susan will take a truck load to our brothers and sisters in Van Buren. Jay and Susan will also be checking to see if any of the families need things and we'll let you know what else might be needed as we move forward.
